The Town of Castle Rock Fire department has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Emergency Vehicle Technician. Under general supervision of the Deputy Fire Chief, the purpose of this position is to maintain, diagnose, and repair all types of fire and rescue apparatus, fire suppression equipment, and light and heavy duty equipment, such as generators, pumps, and small portable equipment, at a skilled and technical work level. Work also includes planning, organizing, and managing the department's apparatus and equipment, to include making recommendations on replacement, working with different teams to develop apparatus and equipment specifications and procurement, and working with Town Fleet on overall management. Performs duties in a manner consistent with the stated values of the organization.
Qualifications generally include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, plus two (2) years vocational, technical, or trade school, and four (4) years technical experience in automotive and diesel repair, to include experience in the administrative aspects of apparatus and equipment management, or any equivalent combination.
A valid Colorado Class C Driver's License with ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License with Class B within three (3) months of employment is required.
An EVT Master Level III Fire Apparatus Technician certification is required.
ASE heavy duty truck and automotive certifications in Brakes, Suspension, Steering, Diesel Engines, Drive Trains, Electrical Systems, Gasoline Engines, and Heating and Air Conditioning are required.
ASE Air Brake certification or CFR Title 49-396 Air Brake Card is required.
Must be able to obtain American Heart Association CPR/AED Card within six (6) months of employment.
Successful completion of the "Light" Work Capacity Test (Pack Test) as per Department Guidelines
Must have own tools.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) Classes within one (1) year after date of hire:
ICS-100, Introduction to Incident Command System or equivalent
ICS-200, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents or equivalent
IS-700, National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction
IS-800, National Response Framework, An Introduction
Some combination of the following is preferred:
EVT Ambulance Technician level certification
Scott Aviation SCBA Technician certification
Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control or equivalent Driver/Operator Utility, Engine, and Aerial certifications
Successful candidate must satisfactorily complete a criminal background and driving check, physical exam, and polygraph prior to commencing employment.
